Rhode Island

In the state of Rhode Island you may immediately request sealing and expungement of your record if there was no true bill or information related to your crime(s), you were acquitted, or you were otherwise later exonerated from the aforementioned charge(s). With the exception of any and all violent crimes, including sex crimes, first time offenders are eligible to petition for expungement after five years of completion of a sentence for a misdemeanor offense, and ten years after completing a sentence for some felony offenses. Moral character and public-safety are highly considered for approval of record sealing and expungement.
